1940's Event 16th & 17th September

Market Bosworth Station Goods Yard

Joining us for 2017, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be providing us with Flypasts on both days of the event (please note subject to change and cancellation by the BBMF RAF)
On Saturday 16th September we will have the work horse of the RAF during WW2 the Hawker Hurricane and on Sunday 17th September the stunning Supermarine Spitfire. Times yet to be confirmed by the BBMF.

Also this year, two tanks will be taking part in the battle Re-enactment on both days. As with last year the replica STUG III was deadly against the allied forces. This year however the allied forces will be fighting back with new armour in the form of a replica M24 Chaffee light tank. Both will be on display during the event.

So....... Step back in time to when the world was at war. Travel upon steam hauled train services from Shackerstone or Shenton stations on the former A&NJR (Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway) to the Frontline at Market Bosworth station for the Goods yard. Once a very important location during the War effort in the 40s for fuel supplies for the D-Day invasion.

Experience WW2 with living history! See and hear what it would have been like on the front line with live Battle re-enactments. See a replica STUG III and M24 Tank in action and other Military vehicles of the war effort. See what equipment would have been used to fight the enemy and speak with living history re-enactors and learn about our history when the World was at War.

"Cometh the hour cometh the man"

Also, throughout the day, listen and dance to the music that won the war. Live music played through both Saturday and Sunday by The Ashby Little Big band in the Goods shed with the voice of Kevin Mack singing the songs that you just have to sing along to, or better still, boogie the day away! Refreshments available throughout both days with a licenced bar.

There will be a frequent train train service, starting at 10:00 from Shackerstone, to get people to and from the frontline at Market Bosworth. Travel from Shackerstone or Shenton stations. There is ample free parking at Shackerstone station where you can also enjoy the splendid Victorian tea rooms whilst waiting to disembark for the frontline.
