Silver Experience (£315):-
Your day starts at 0900 when you arrive at Shackerstone Station and are greeted by one of our volunteers. You will be escorted to the engine shed and receive a basic safety briefing before climbing aboard a steam locomotive. Our driver and fireman will then show you around the locomotive and explain the workings of all the parts and controls. Now the really fun bit... the loco is now under your control as you take the engine (no coaches) all the way to Shenton and back while you drive and fire under the expert tuition of our crew. Upon arrival back at Shackerstone you will be presented with a certificate of completion and can spend the rest of the day travelling on our service trains.
Gold Experience (£415):-
Our flagship experience! Starting at 0800, you will take the engine to Shenton and back as per the silver course, but when you arrive back at Shackerstone, you will couple the engine onto a rake of coaches and take them all the way to Shenton and back too! Up to 3 guests can travel on the coaches free of charge (additional guests can be accomodated but suject to additional charge). After arriving back at Shackerstone with the coaches, you will be presented with a certificate of completion.
You can then spend the rest of the day travelling with your guests on our service trains and all enjoy a delicious complimentary lunch on-board. This really is an experience to remember!
Important notes for footplate experiences:-
-Once you purchase a voucher, a member of our office staff will contact you to arrange a date to redeem your voucher.
-Minimum age 18, maximum age 75. Participant should be in good health.
-Steel toe cap boots are mandatory
-Please wear old clothing that you don't mind getting very dirty, preferably a set of overalls
-Gold experience only - Up to 3 guests can travel on the coaches included in the price, extra guests charged at £25 per person.
