Late traction changes
Due to the current hot weather conditions, we have made the decision to swap this weekends steam services (13th & 14th August) for a diesel service instead. This is to prevent lineside fires, which are common when operating steam engines and also for the safety of our crews who operate the locomotives in the extreme conditions. We will review the decision again next week and decide if any other future dates will also be affected. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support and hope that you take care in the heat.
Rails & Ales Returns...
It is now just over a month until the return of our popular Market Bosworth Rail Ale Festival, jointly organised with Hinckley & Bosworth CAMRA.
It's a great summer show, with plenty of steam traction engines, live entertainment, ales & ciders and plenty of trains in action.
Further details along with online booking can be found on the special events page. During the event, a special timetable and special fares will be in operation (no part fares will be available either on this weekend).
We are thrilled to announce that one of the privately owned class 08 diesel shunters currently on site will be running for the first time in preservation on some short passenger trains on Sunday 22nd May! (this could be the one and only time...)
08706 will operate 3 additional shuttle services from Shackerstone along part of the line.
You can ride on these trains, as well as the standard services (hauled by D8110) all inclusive of our normal train fare.
The shunter services will operate between the standard timetabled trains, and timings for departure will be approx 12:05, 13:35 and 15:05 (exact timings TBC).
Note: Train will be formed of air braked MK1's and another diesel locomotive on the rear of the train. The 08 will lead from Shackerstone and the other diesel locomotive will lead the return leg of the trip to Shackerstone.

Winter project update
We have now reached the half way point in our winter project. Approximately 200 sleepers have been laid on a thin bed of ballast, alongside 150m of drainage system. We are now against the clock to get the remaining 200 sleepers, along with all 300m of rails and around 1000 tons of ballast in place for the end of March. The accompanying photos show the trench with the new drain, and sleepers going down on a thin bed of ballast prior to rail installation. We are still accepting donations and every little bit really does help. Thank You.
